How Cricket Live Win Probability & DLS Par Scores Are Calculated

In limited-overs cricket (T20, IPL, ODI), mathematical win probability depends on two finite resources: Balls Remaining and Wickets in Hand:

1. Required Run Rate (RRR)

Calculated as (Runs Needed / Balls Left) × 6. When RRR exceeds 12.00, win probability drops sharply below 25%.

2. Wicket Depletion Penalty

Each wicket lost reduces available batting resources exponentially, requiring tail-enders to score at steep asking rates.

3. DLS Rain Par Score

The Duckworth-Lewis-Stern formula calculates the expected average score for the overs bowled and wickets lost.
